Dusseldorf and Hamburg

I left off in Berlin, which feels like such a long time ago!!!!! Probably because it was! I am sitting here in Haninge, having had quite a substansial amount of time in Sweden already and thinking, shit, where has all the time gone. In reality, my trip is almost over and that scares the shit out of me. I am already making plans for when I get home!!!!! Just over a month to go, where have the past 3 months gone????

So we left Berlin on the.... cant remember. Before leaving we went and had a look at the East Side Gallery, which is AWESOME! Definately something I suggest you go and see if you can. Berlin is a pretty cool place with lots of culture and history!!! Anyone interested in the world wars, Berlin is a must! We got on our train for Dusseldorf around 12. Was a quick train ride and we were in Dusseldorf before we knew it =D Arrived not at night but as the sun began to fall. It was good to be in Dusseldorf again, somewhere familiar. We went and got a cheeseburger whilst we waited for Mara. She was there before we knew it! It was good to see the Plumdogga again! Had definately missed her on our endevours across the European continent!!!!!! Got ourselves organised back at Mara's place in Kaarst and were in bed at a relitively early hour!!! Next day we got ourselves organised in the morning with washing, clean clothes were much needed, we were all very very dirty at that stage =P Lazed around and Skyped with Ashleigh dearest before heading into Neuss to meet Mara for Schnitzel and Spaghetti Eis. Got some smelly shit for ourselves and trudged back home to eat some Miracoli and get our shit together for a night on the town! Mara had a wee nap whislt we got ready as the poor chicken was feeling ill!!! We got ourselves on the train and headed into the Altstadt to get our drink and dance onnnnnnnnnn... We walked around for AGES because no one would let us in, BASTARDS. Finally we ended up somewhere at like 1am and got our drink on pretty severly. Lets just say I didnt feel at my best the next morning and neither did Ella or Hamish!!! Mara was well behaved!!!!!!!!! The next day we headed off to see my host family is Erkelenz. Niklas picked us up at the station and we headed to Hetzerath so Hamish and Ella could meet the people I lived with whilst on exchange! It was good to see them all! We ate Schnitzel (the best Schnitzel you could ever devour), played Wii and chilled. The next day Hamish Ella and I headed into Erkelenz to have a look around the town, so they could see where we went to school on exchange and so on. Not really the most interesting or populous place on earth =P however it was still good to go see the subway in the windmill and BERFIN GRILL. Hells yeah, had myself a Schnitzel Hollandaise and thought about how insanely jealous Andrew Hutchesson would be =D Then we headed back to Hetzerath to say our goodbyes before heading back to Kaarst! Was a bit strange not having Mara there but we quickly got used to it. Can't really remember what we did Monday, so much has happened in the last month!!!!!!!!!! my wonderful memory! ahhh no, yes I do remember!!!! Monday was probably a day we would prefer not to remember! The day we failed epically trying to get to Nurnburgring!!!!!!!!!!!! It all began with us missing the bus, I swear it was early, or maybe my phone was wrong, I dunno, we missed the bus. Mistake number one... Mistake number two, we got to the train station and almost booked the wrong train, which was going to be 200 odd euros, before going back to Vorst and realising that, well, there was no chance in hell we would get to the Nurnburgring, which was not good! Would have been an awesome place to go. In Germany, a country with possibly the best public transport system, and we couldn't get to Nurnburg. One suggestion to the Germans, trying giving your towns some NOT so similar names!!!! Nurnberg Nuremberg Nurnburg, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH... So that day we just chilled at home, went into Neuss to eat Spaghetti Eis and buy books in English. Ooooo and we also booked our car for our trip to Hamburg. The next day we slept in and eventually went into Dusseldorf to do some souvenier shopping and have a look around the old town in daylight =D Souvenier shopping ended up in shopping which ended up in bank accounts decreasing!!!!!!!!!! But it was a good afternoon. We shuffled back home so I could prepare for the next day, the first day of the rest of my life, inkage day =P So I woke up rather hyperactive got my shit together and before we knew it Hamish and I were heading into town. Filled up our stomachs and started off to the tattoo and piercing place. Had to wait a while, but before I knew it we were in the room and the stencil thing was on my arm, this is it =D I pulled a few faces but I wouldnt go as far as saying it hurt. More like nails down a chalkboard annoying. YAY! Happy Anders. It really didn't take that long and didnt cost as much as I once thought it would, WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I love it, tis awesome!
Then the next part was for Hamish, Mr Philips got his brow pierced, I watched, thought it was somewhat facinating how they shove that huge tube through these two pinpricks, kind of rank and looked somewhat unenjoyable. No wonder they can get all rank and infected. Mr Philips be very happy! We floated back home to skype with Ashleigh =D and get our bags packed, DUN DUN DUUUUUN!
The next day Bettina took me into Dusseldorf to pick up the rental car. Was sad to say goodbye!!!! Before I knew it I had the rental car and was stuck smack bang in the middle of Dusseldorf peak hour =D FUN. The car was a manual Astra wagon thing, rather new and it had a GPS, cant say I enjoyed it in peak hour!!!! Went back to Vorst to pick Hamish and Ella up. We went into Kaarst to get some flowers for Bettina to say thanks, went back to Vorst packed our bags into the car and set off for Hamburg. The trip to Hamburg was relitively uneventful until we got about an hour out of Hamburg, then the FUN began. It took us an hour and a half to do 10km. FARRRK. Can't say we were all that impressed. Then we finally got into Hamburg, and ofcourse, the GPS didnt know the adress we were giving it. Fail. So we drove around Hamburg for a good twenty minutes trying to find it. Lucky Ham had a keen eye and found it!!!!! We parked the car and unloaded all our shit before meeting up with Colin. It was good to see Colin again, hadn't seen him in years! Had a good night looking around Hamburg, saw all the sights, went and had epic amounts of food at the Hofbrauhaus and a huge 1L stein!!!!!!!!!!! Even skulling that, the beer would be warm by the end =P Then we went off to this Bar which is like 60 stories up, so had a complete view of Hamburg, felt like we lowered the age demographic, and social status demographic by a bit, young bogan anyone???? Can't say I am a fan of Tequila... Then we headed back to the Hotel to get some sleep, rather early wake up call to get our train to Copenhagen!!!!!!!!!!
The next morning I snoozed in a bit and packed my bag frantically whilst Ham and Ella scoffed food. Before we knew it we had just started our endevour to Sweden, 10 hours and three different trains, but it wasn't really all that bad!!!!! Slept for quite a bit of it! Anyway thats where I will leave this blog post, figure I will try and tackle the past 3 weeks in Sweden tomorrow, to put it politely, I can't be bothered!!!!!! So I will update you on my life here in Sweden later day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
